The golden New Jerusalem stands for heavenly love. It is transparent like glass because the Lord shines through it into the life of the angels. Everyone in heaven receives this light, knows what is right and loves the Lord.
John's vision of the Lord on a white horse appeared just before the descent of the Holy City. The Holy City could not descend until the angels of heaven fought against evil. The Lord on the white horse pictures this battle.
